π Schedule and programme π
The event takes place on Saturday, 27th September 2025. We will start around 9:00 and end around 18:00, with an open end after party.
We start the day with a common session, getting to know each other. Afterwards we split up in 3 tracks. You will be asked for you preference in the registration process.
At the end of the day we get together for a closing session. We share our experiences in the tracks, and reflect on the "feminism of it all".
The 3 tracks are:
Coding & Software Development π©βπ»
t.b.a. soon
Linux & Open Source π§
Get to know the world of Linux and FOSS (free and open source software) or share your existing knowledge. We'll take a sneak peak at different beginner-friendly distributions and desktops. Bring the devices you want to give a new life with Linux to our install party - support for Windows 10 ends on October 14th! Learn new skills, core concepts and about essential tools. Share your tricks, experiences and discoveries.
Ethical Hacking π΅οΈββοΈ
Workshop with a theoretical intro to ethical hacking and web application security, followed by a bigger hands-on session, were you can try to hack some vulnerable web applications. Already heard about SQL injections, cross-site scripting, buffer overflows ... here's the spot to try it out yourselves. (Ok, maybe the buffer overflow is for a follow up workshop, but you can try out lots of other stuff too). Security-beginner friendly, but having learned at least some coding language once might help.
π Location π
The whole day will take place at a building of the TU Wien, located on Getreidemarkt 9. The main room is the amazing TUtheSky lounge on 11th floor, with a wonderful view over the whole city. Additionally, we have two seminar rooms in the floors below.
The closest U-Bahn stations are U1/U2/U4 Karlsplatz, or U2 Museumsquartier. There is an even closer stop of the 57A bus.
Find more info about the location, including a barrier check list, go to the TU Wien's room description:
π©βπ» By whom and for whom? π©βπ»
The event is open for all FLINTA* folks, meaning women*, lesbians*, inter*, non-binary*, trans*, and agender* people. (In german: Frauen* Lesben* Inter* Non-binary* Trans* Agender*, leading to the acronym FLINTA)
βNon-binaryβ in this case does mean, that you neither identify as a woman, nor as a man. We donβt mean by it, that you only code with fuzzy logic and donβt use binary numbers. Admittedly, it would be fantastically terrifically queer to do so, but believe us, our computers also work with binary code most of the time π.
With the * we mark certain words to point to the fact, that all these categories are socially constructed. That means, they donβt exist as is βin natureβ, but we humans interpret nature in this and that way. Therefore it is legitimate for people to choose these categories for themselves in the way they best fit to them. If all of that feels a bit unsettling to you, or if you just want to know more about it, take a look at the more detailed explanation on the Invitation Policy page.
As we want this event to be an encouraging, empowering, emancipatory experience for everyone, we also have a Social Framework, extending our Code of Conduct. Especially the Code of Conduct is binding for all participants, including all organisers.
Who are "we"?
The event is organised by many volunteers, contributing with their time,
ideas, motivation, helping out at the event, and doing all the different
things needed in the up-front organisation, as well as for the after care
of the event. We have listed all of the organisations involved in
the supporter section below.
π¬ Contact & Registration π¬
The registration form will be linked here some time in the second half of August. If you have any other questions or just want to contact the organising team, send and e-mail to fits [Γ€t] diebin [dot] at.
We will have around 70 Tickets on a pay-as-you-can option. All proceeds go directly into the event, mostly for foods and drinks during the event. If there will be any leftovers, we will donate them to the Women && Code organisation, for the organisation of meetups und hackathons.
In the registration form we will ask you how much you can pay, based on an average suggestion somewhere between 10 and 20 β¬. You will then be able to either pay in cash at the venue, or through a bank transfer up-fron. In the latter case we can also provide a bill, e.g. if your employer pays for the ticket, or if you want to use it for your tax deduction.
