π Schedule and programme π
The event takes place on Saturday, 27th September 2025. We will start at 9:00 and end at 18:00, with an open end after party.
We start the day with a common session, getting to know each other. Afterwards we split up in 3 tracks. You will be asked for your preference in the registration process. You can still switch tracks later, but the general idea is, that the tracks are a single unit of hacking / learning engagement, so it might be harder in some tracks to join later.
At the end of the day we get together for a closing session. We share our experiences in the tracks, and reflect on the "feminism of it all".
The schedule as a time table looks like this:
8:30 - 9:00 | Check-in and arrival |
9:00 - 10:00 | Intro, keynote & get to know each other |
10:00 - 13:00 | Tracks part 1 (with flexible breaks) |
13:00 - 14:00 | Lunch break |
14:00 - 16:30 | Tracks part 2 (with flexible breaks) |
16:30 - 17:00 | Flexible coffee break |
17:00 - 18:00 | Feminist closing panel (sharing experiences, exchange in small groups, closing discussion) |
open end | after party (until 19:30 in the event location, later in a pub close by) |
The 3 tracks are:
Coding & Software Development π©βπ»
This track is more hackathon-style where participants can choose
between two topics: Game Development or a
challenge: How to Connect FLINTA* in Tech.
The Game Development topic comes with a few starting ideas and
general guidelines to spark your creativity. However the concept,
mechanics, and execution are entirely up to you.
The "How to Connect FLINTA* in Tech" challenge invites you to
conceptualize and prototype solutions that bring FLINTA*
individuals in tech closer together. You will be encouraged to
think critically, creatively, and empathetically to tackle
real-world barriers in tech.
Linux & Open Source π§
Get to know the world of Linux and FOSS (free and open source software) or share your existing knowledge. Try out Linux Mint and its modern, beginner-friendly Cinnamon desktop on your device. With a live USB flash drive, you can do so in a safe environment, while not making any changes to your current system! Should you feel ready, join the install party - support for Windows 10 ends on October 14th! Learn about core concepts and essential tools and listen in when an expert talks about tips & tricks for audio editing and radio production. Share your experiences and discoveries.
Ethical Hacking π΅οΈββοΈ
Disclaimer:
we already reached a participant limit for this track. You
can still choose this option, when registering, but you might not
be able to actually participate in this track (except other people
registered for this track either cancel or change their track).
Workshop with a theoretical intro to ethical hacking and web application security, followed by a bigger hands-on session, were you can try to hack some vulnerable web applications. Already heard about SQL injections, cross-site scripting, buffer overflows ... here's the spot to try it out yourselves. (Ok, maybe the buffer overflow is for a follow up workshop, but you can try out lots of other stuff too). Security-beginner friendly, but having learned at least some coding language once might help.
π Location π
The whole day will take place at a building of the TU Wien, located on Getreidemarkt 9. The main room is the amazing TUtheSky lounge on 11th floor, with a wonderful view over the whole city. Additionally, we have two seminar rooms in the floors below. You can find the room marked here on TU maps.
The closest U-Bahn stations are U1/U2/U4 Karlsplatz, or U2 Museumsquartier. There is an even closer stop of the 57A bus.
Find more infos about the location, including a barrier check list, in TU Wien's room description pages:
- TUtheSky
- Barrier check list (PDF) (the notes about the online presence pertain to tuwien.ac.at, not our event web page)
π©βπ» By whom and for whom? π©βπ»
The event is open for all FLINTA* folks, meaning women*, lesbians*, inter*, non-binary*, trans*, and agender* people. (In german: Frauen* Lesben* Inter* Non-binary* Trans* Agender*, leading to the acronym FLINTA)
βNon-binaryβ in this case does mean, that you neither identify as a woman, nor as a man. We donβt mean by it, that you only code with fuzzy logic and donβt use binary numbers. Admittedly, it would be fantastically terrifically queer to do so, but believe us, our computers also work with binary code most of the time π.
With the * we mark certain words to point to the fact, that all these categories are socially constructed. That means, they donβt exist as is βin natureβ, but we humans interpret nature in this and that way. Therefore it is legitimate for people to choose these categories for themselves in the way they best fit to them. If all of that feels a bit unsettling to you, or if you just want to know more about it, take a look at the more detailed explanation on the Invitation Policy page.
As we want this event to be an encouraging, empowering, emancipatory experience for everyone, we also have a Social Framework, extending our Code of Conduct. Especially the Code of Conduct is binding for all participants, including all organisers.
Who are "we"?
The event is organised by many volunteers, contributing with their
time, ideas, motivation, helping out at the event, and doing all
the different things needed in the up-front organisation, as well
as for the after care of the event. We have listed all of the
organisations involved in the supporter section below.
π¬ Contact & Registration π¬
Our location has place for around 70 persons, and the tickets are on a pay-as-you-can option. All proceeds go directly into the event, mostly for foods and drinks during the event. So the more you can contribute, the fancier our buffet will be. If there will be any leftovers, we will donate them to the Women && Code organisation, for the organisation of meetups und hackathons.
2025-09-22: Registration is now closed, as we have reached the capacity limit, and less then a week is left until the event.
If you have any questions or just want to contact the organising team, send and e-mail to fits [Γ€t] diebin [dot] at.
